vitchen: how do u select people?
  • @balasankarc #942 05:23 PM, 20 Nov 2016
Based on the credibility of your proposal, your technical skill and obviously your passion.
  • @balasankarc #943 05:24 PM, 20 Nov 2016
BTW, the proposal must be in the area of language technology, as we are a community focussing on it.

  • @balasankarc #946 05:27 PM, 20 Nov 2016
vitchen: It is favorable if you already have some experience, but not a necessity. You should be able to learn and adapt, though
  • @balasankarc #947 05:27 PM, 20 Nov 2016
Personally, I recommend you already get comfortable with basic NLP

  • @balasankarc #950 05:29 PM, 20 Nov 2016
Well, there is no learn-it-in-30-days course, AFAIK. But, you can try if there are MOOC courses on NLP in coursera or Udacity
  • @balasankarc #951 05:30 PM, 20 Nov 2016
Also, you start by joining mailing lists of NLP communities, like SMC's. There may be discussions going on there that will get you interested.

  • @balasankarc #954 05:37 PM, 20 Nov 2016
Went through the existing projects, read the code, went through the issues, tried solving them, made mistakes, asked doubts, repeat.
